Swift (33 years old) wrote on her Instagram account on Saturday, November 18, hours before the concert was scheduled to start: “I am writing this from my dressing room at the stadium.” “The decision has been made to postpone tonight’s show due to the extreme temperatures in Rio.”
“The safety and well-being of my fans, fellow showrunners and crew must always and will always come first,” she concluded.
Swift did not immediately announce the new concert date. She has another show in Rio scheduled for Sunday, November 19.
The Grammy winner performed at Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Brazil on Friday, November 17, amid a record-breaking heatwave. During the performance, many attendees felt overheated and began chanting water.

“There are people who need water,” Swift told security guards in footage from the show on social media, pausing her performance of “Champagne Issues” when she noticed a homemade sign with the request. “Whoever is responsible for giving them that should make sure it happens.”
Swift was later seen throwing a bottle of water to an audience member in the middle of her performance of “All Too Well (10 Minute Version).”
Before the show, a 23-year-old fan died, likely due to weather conditions. Swift issued a statement on Friday, noting that she was “overwhelmed with sadness” and “devastated.”
