What-new-lows-can-we-sink-to news moment from a recent Senate hearing went viral on social media after a fight nearly broke out between Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin and Teamster leader Sean O’Brien before an angry Bernie Sanders stepped in to denounce both.
The clip didn’t go unnoticed by Stephen Colbert, who quickly did his best Sanders impression The Late Show in Tuesday.
“Fasten it!” Colbert yells, pointing wildly as he mimics Sanders’ voice. “Shut up, Bunsen Honeydew, sit down or I’ll come over there and redistribute the top 10 percent of my fist into 99 percent of your face!” I’ll split your lip like pea soup! Don’t make me take off my gloves!’
