Ryan Reynolds And Amy SmartThey are both 47 years old, and starred together in the beloved 2005 holiday film just friends. Now, they’re reuniting in a fun ad campaign that pays homage to the hilarious movie that brought them together as best friends nearly two decades ago! The scene is set in “2023, New Jersey” when Amy (as her character Jimmy Palomino) enters the living room to see Ryan (Chris Brander) checking out their Christmas tree and asking how her day went. “Mmm, I’ve had better days,” she says, holding up a bottle of American Airlines Gin — the brand free man The star just so happens to share ownership. “The bar is out of Aviation American Gin,” she deadpanned, as Reynolds threw back his head and screamed in mock terror. “Oh no, that’s too bad!”

Amy then breaks character to ask if they could “just cut this”, and the on-screen couple finds themselves in front of a green screen. “That’s weird,” Amy says. Ryan says they should try it again, so Amy goes back to the fake living room, and approaches him again with the problem. “Ohhhhh f***!” Ryan then screams as Amy again asks if they can “cut.” “That’s been a big reaction,” she said anxiously.

“Well, it’s been 18 years, you know, I think the characters have changed a little bit,” he says. On the scene’s third attempt, Amy points out that the bottle of gin she’s holding is full, so the tape can’t be taken out of it — at which point she guesses they’re filming what she calls “a stupid ad for your company.” Gin Company.’ “It’s a self-financed sequel,” he joked.

Amy calls the move “sloppy,” at which point Ryan says, “You never work with your heroes, do you?” “You’re not my fucking hero!” Amy replies, the sound of glass shattering off screen. In the caption, Ryan included the lyrics to the popular song featured in the film, “I Swear” by All-4-One.

Fans were on hand for the long-awaited reunion between the famous personalities, and took to the YouTube comment thread to voice their voice. “This Thanksgiving, we should definitely be thankful for Ryan Reynolds,” one fan wrote, while another wrote: “just friends It needs a sequel, such a good movie. The sequel wouldn’t be complete without singing “I Swear” again. A third gushed over Amy, saying: “It’s great to see Amy Smart doing such an amazing job! And she’s still beautiful!!”

Ryan starred in the original film as a small-town geek who goes to Hollywood, only to find himself back home in New Jersey ten years later and carrying on a strange romance with his long-time high school sweetheart, played by Amy.
