“It will be very exciting,” said 80-year-old Bruckheimer. Entertainment tonight for the new film on Saturday, November 18, while attending the Formula 1 Grand Prix with Pitt, 59, in Las Vegas. “We have Brad Pitt racing. We’ve done some background filming and we’ll be back here next year.
He spoke enthusiastically about Pete’s skills behind the wheel, saying: “He does everything himself. He’s an amazing athlete, and the drivers are amazed at how good he is.”
The director explained that his team had to temporarily stop filming the race biopic due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) sit-ins concluded earlier this month after beginning in July. This followed the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, which lasted from May to September, both of which fought against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) for better labor laws, wages, and AI restrictions for its members.
With the hits over, Bruckheimer revealed that his crew filmed some stuff while in Las Vegas for the big event last weekend. He also explained that the actors “will be in the cars after the first of the year” as they fully resume filming.
For his part, Pitt will begin filming in mid-December, according to Bruckheimer. “It’s all about the drama and the characters,” the producer added about the film’s premise. “It’s a great character study, the personalities, the drivers, the people around them who run those teams, the team managers.”
The sports film doesn’t have an official title, but it was previously announced that Pitt will play fictional racer Sonny Hayes. Sonny is a retired athlete who returns to Formula 1 racing to help train newcomer Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris).
Before production shut down last summer, Pitt and Idris, 32, were spotted wearing white racing gear at the British Grand Prix in July. The duo were seen filming scenes for the project and chatting with real contestants while in England.
In the months that followed, Pitt did not film any other projects, but kept himself busy strengthening his relationship with his girlfriend. Ines de Ramon.
The duo were first linked in November 2022 after they were seen together at Bono’s concert in Los Angeles. “Brad and Ines’ relationship is going really well,” a source said exclusively. Us Weekly Earlier this month, noting that a year into their romance, the couple were “in love.”
