Lowe is finally on board with Apple Pay.
According to MacRumors, the home improvement store has allowed customers to use Apple Pay through its website and app, but for the first time, Lowe’s patrons can use the contactless payment feature in its stores.
Lowe’s finally supports Apple Pay
Reddit is full of complaints about Lowe’s lack of Apple Pay support. In one thread, the Redditor claimed that Lowe’s was slow to adopt Apple Pay because “the card machines would have to be upgraded,” adding that it would set the retailer back $400 per unit.
However, Redditors waved off the apology. “I guarantee that the average Lowe’s store loses a lot more than $400 in sales every day by people who don’t carry their wallet with them,” RelevantMetaUsername said.
“Yes! I had a cart full of stuff today,” AlgaeEater chimed in. “I went to use a faucet payment…they didn’t have it. So they lost a huge sale.”
Well, they don’t need to shake their fists anymore. The home improvement store now accepts Apple Pay. According to MacRumors, Apple Pay support started rolling out on December 20th, just in time for the holidays.
Interestingly, Lowe’s isn’t the only popular megastore in the works without Apple Pay. Walmart also doesn’t support Apple Pay. However, it is worth noting that it has its own mobile payment method called Walmart Pay. As such, I wouldn’t hold my breath for Apple Pay being accepted at Walmart anytime soon.
